I am delighted to share that next year we will be bringing the Roots of Empathy program to Lakeview PS, led by Ms. Lindsay Mattesz, in one of our junior classes. Roots of Empathy revolves around nine classroom visits from a parent and baby, as well as 18 pre- and post-baby visits.
“The charity Roots of Empathy provides an award-winning program for elementary school children that independent research shows increases empathy, reduces aggression and bullying, and increases caring, kindness and inclusiveness.”
For more information, view the Roots of Empathy Flyer or see a short video that explains more about the program.
The OCDSB has partnered with Roots of Empathy for over a decade and I myself was a Roots of Empathy instructor and also a Roots of Empathy parent with my first two children. It was an incredibly rewarding experience for me and my family.
If you will have a baby who will be 2, 3 or 4 months old by October and you think that you may be interested in being a Roots of Empathy family (which involved 9 classroom visits between October and June), please email [email protected].
