Welcome Letter September 2023
Posted on 08/30/2023

Hello Lakeview Families!

I hope that you had a wonderful summer! I would like to extend a huge THANK YOU to the families, students and staff who helped to take care of our new gardens over the summer. Wow! Our community is awesome!

The new school year is just around the corner. Here is a quick welcome video from me to you:

Our office is open from 8 am to 4 pm this week and we are busy getting ready to welcome students back onto the building. Thank you to Steve Veroba, our chief custodian, who helped manage our summer construction projects - you will notice new flooring and lighting in some of our classrooms and hallways. Merci, Steve!

The first day of school will be Tuesday, September 5th. Our regular school hours are 8:30 am to 3:00 pm. We will send you more information this Friday, September 1st, about what the first day of school will look like and which class your child(ren) will be in. A tremendous amount of thought and effort goes into class placements. The whole school team is involved in this process and staff keep each child’s best interests in mind, helping to set the stage for a year of academic and social success for all students. No requests for class changes will be taken at this time.

Students with Life Threatening Medical Conditions - Plan of Care

If your child has medication that needs to be kept at school, we encourage you to bring it in this week on Wednesday or Thursday.  If your child has life threatening medical conditions such as asthma or requiring an EpiPen due to severe allergies, please ensure that you complete this Plan of Care Form before your child starts school in September. The plan of care form needs to be completed each school year in order to ensure that the school has up to date information.

For students who require prescribed medication to be administered during school hours (not asthma inhalers and Epi pens) this Prescribed Medication Form needs to be completed. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact the office.

Food at School

Healthy food helps students grow and learn. Please send your child(ren) to school with nut-free food in a lunchbox or lunch bag, every day. Our school runs on a balanced day - which means we have two 20-minute eating breaks during the school day. All students are also encouraged to bring a plastic or metal water bottle to school.

Indoor Shoes

All students are asked to bring a pair of indoor shoes to keep at school. Indoor shoes should be suitable for physical education in the gym.

We are looking forward to a fabulous year as we work in partnership with you to support your child’s educational journey.

Here’s to a wonderful new school year together!
